There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed...
I have been in childcare for 20+ years. Through my experience I have been with all age groups ranging from 6 weeks through school age, as well as now being a director of a licensed facility of 44! We will be moving to a facility that is currently licensed for 85 but could go up to 115!
An activity that always sticks out in my head is from a 1 year old room. These kids LOVED when we would bring out a large plastic animal cracker container (reuse what we can, right) with a slit cut in the top. The children would practice taking turns with putting checkers or poker chips in the slit.
This activity has evolved over the years, by turning the container into something kids can relate too.
Recently, the preschool class did a weekly theme on "There Was An Old Lady Who. " series. We now have a Hungry, Old, Lady (on an oatmeal container, again, we like to reuse as best as we can) with all the pieces of the story to "feed" her! These are the pieces for "There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly" and "There Was An Old Lady That Swallowed a Chick".
