Five Senses Sorting Activity for Preschool, Pre-K, and Kindergarten Students

This sorting activity is a stellar addition to any unit about the five sense or which is, "All about me."

For this task kids sort a number of cards onto the assorted 5 senses sheets placed on mat. This activity is great for preschool, pre-K, and kindergarten classrooms that want to discuss how each of our sense work. The individual sheets discuss how students see, hear, touch, smell, and taste.

I can see with my eyes

I can hear with my ears

I can touch with my hands

I can smell with my nose

I can taste with my mouth

Then, there are various images on the sorting cards that go with a sense, such as book for seeing with your eyes, stinky garbage for smelling with your nose, ice cream for tasting with the mouth, a prickly cactus for touching with your hands, and a loud alarm clock for hearing with your ears.

Preschool, pre-K, and Kindergarten students all will have lots of fun talking about the things their senses do and picking the right sorting card to put with the appropriate sheet.

To make things even more educational for older students you can talk about the things that multiple senses maybe apply too--"We can smell a pizza and taste it," or, "We see soft pillow so we know it will feel good to lay on it."
