Alphabet Activites
I teach K3. Some are very young 3's. We do a lot of hands-on activities to keep their interest. This is simple. Chunky puzzles with the peg to help the children grasp the puzzle piece. Some are simply matching the letters. Some are saying the letters and sounds as they go. It depends on the age of the child and their abilities.
I have done dot painting with pre-school with the letter A. This week, we will dot paint B and b.
We have made letters out of pretzels and held them together with frosting. The plus side, they can eat the letters! They LOVED this activity!
We have made letters in pudding with pretzels. This can be done to draw lines or shapes as well. We use these activities to help prepare them for writing and grasping a pencil.
Play Dough and letter cutters hold their interest as well. Play dough also encourages the building of the muscles in the hand to prepare them for writing.
