Beginning Sounds hand2mind magnetic activity trays
Splurged and bought these magnetic trays with letters and multiple dry-erase mats. My special ed first and second graders love them. They provided fun and focused practice for beginning sounds practice.
The lesson was from our curriculum Reading Horizons on beginning sounds m, s, t, p. Over 7 lessons (we go very slow and break things down much more than a gen ed classroom, we are beginning to build phonemic awareness with rhyme, syllables practice and combining simple sounds. I will continue to use the blending mats as we go through making word families.
