Collaborative Pattern Making With Skittles
At Trinity Learning Center, the children learned all about making patterns with colors by using the popular candy pieces known as Skittles!
Understanding patterns
The students did not eat these skittles (a lot of hands touched them, but they did have a lot of fun using them to understand and create various patterns. The class talked about how you can create all kinds of patterns with colors from simple ones that are just two colors (red, purple, red, purple--for one example) to something with multiple colors and variations!
Creating the patterns
After learning how to make patterns the students had of lot of fun working together to create patterns. Different children were put in charge of different colors so that everyone needed to work together to create patterns that made sense. It was a great activity for developing teamwork skills as well as understanding patterns!
