Holiday Sweater/Ugly Sweater Day

Holiday Sweater/Ugly Sweater Day
At many schools, they are having a day this week to celebrate holiday sweaters, or as they are sometimes known, ugly sweaters. The official day is tomorrow, December 17th. These sweaters are often very colorful and elaborate--plus full of holiday cheer! Over at Heights Preschool, they had a day where students were encouraged to wear their own holiday sweaters/ugly sweaters and the kiddos were excited to do just that!
Where did this tradition come from?
There are multiple ideas about where the tradition of wearing holiday sweaters came from, but often credit is given to a variety of holiday movies--which inspired an official National Ugly Sweater Day in Vancouver, Canada, back in 2002. Since then, December 17th (or all of December) has been when children and adults love to wear wild holiday sweaters! You can do a holiday sweater/ugly sweater day with your kids this holiday season too!
