Making a Giant Word Search Craft for Kids
At Wild Oaks Cottage School: Preschool in the Park, they made a giant word search on a massive piece of cardboard with markers! They made their word search themed for Hawaii as they were having a Hawaiin-themed week, but you could have your own giant word search be themed for anything you like!
Materials needed to make a giant word search
To make your own giant word search you will need:
*A large piece of cardboard or a big posterboard
*Markers
How to do your giant word search
Follow these steps for your giant word search:
1. Split everyone into two groups--one group will make the word search and the other will look for the words once it is made.
2. Have the first group use their markers to put letters all over the cardboard, hiding the words that can be found in the big jumble of words as they make everything.
3. Have the second group take their markers and start looking for all the words that are hidden in the word search. As they find them, they can circle them.
4. Once all the words have been found you can repeat the activity if you have more cardboard by having the groups switch jobs this time--that way everyone gets to create a word search and look for words!
