Milk the Cow for Down on the Farm Preschool Fun
September is our Down on the Farm theme. We spent the week learning about cows and the food we get from them. In addition to making butter, I wanted the kids to experience some hands-on fun by milking a cow. Obviously we could not milk a real one, but I filled a clear latex glove with water (could use watered down milk for the color) and used a small needle to poke a tiny pinhole in the tips of the fingers. I closed the top of the glove with a rubber band and used a piece of ribbon tied around the top of the glove to suspend it from the bottom of one of the kids’ chairs. They LOVED the activity! They stood in line to take turns milking the cow. We made paper plate cows earlier in the week so I used one of those taped to the back of the chair to make it look more like a cow.
