Lesson Plan: Tornado in a Bottle
Objectives:
1. To introduce students to the causes of tornadoes and what causes tornadoes.
2. To allow students to practice basic scientific processes.
3. To promote the development of all four aspects in students.
Activities: (Summarize the content that demonstrates how students have practiced and developed each aspect according to the results obtained)
1. Teacher discusses with students about experiences they've had, such as if they have seen a dust devil before, where it happened and how it happened.
2. Teacher presents media and equipment and discusses it with students.
3. Teacher divides students into groups to work on the "Tornado in a Bottle" exercise following the steps the teacher recommended and observing the experiment "Tornado in a Bottle."
4. Each group presents their results from the "Tornado in a Bottle" experiment.
5. Students and educators summarize the results of the "Tornado in a Bottle" experience, which concludes that there is air in the empty bottle while the water bottle is much heavier, and both bottles try to release water, but the water cannot flow out of the empty bottle due to air pressure. By leaking, balancing the water in the bottles, and shaking the bottles, the water in the rotating bottle will flow out, rise to the top, and flow down to the bottom bottle, which will become a vortex. (In accordance with the objectives of developing the four aspects of basic abilities and four aspects of development)
1. The results
1.1 Children learn that there is air in water. The occurrence of a tornado is caused by the wind force acting as the air moves upward and forms a tornado spiral.
1.2 Children get to practice skills and learn basic scientific processes and think about solving problems on their own.
