Rhyming Games
Rhyming Game 1
The children match the cards in pairs that rhyme. You can give the kids around six cards at a time and then have them find their match to create three rhyming pairs.
Rhyming Game 2
First you pass-out one half of the pairs of cards to children in the class and then pass-out the other half of cards that rhyme to the rest of the class. Then you have the students find their partner with the rhyming card.
Rhyming Game 3
Pass-out one half of the pairs to each student while keeping all the rhyming matches to yourself. After shuffling your pile then place a card in a pocket chart. Next, ask the group who thinks they have the match. The student with the card that has a matching rhyme then can come-up and place their card besides yours in the pocket chart.
Rhyming Game 4
The teacher first, "Deals," out the cards to students in a small group until each child has about five or six cards. Next, call on the first child to say and show everyone the top card in their stack. The other students then look through all of their cards and try to find a match. The matches are then placed upon the middle of the table.
Rhyming Game 5
For this game the teacher beings by placing 3 cards upon the table--two that rhyme and one that does not. The children then identify which two words do rhyme and which one doesn't belong with the others.
