Space Week and Space Station Dramatic Play for Preschoolers
Learning about space has never been as much fun as it was recently at Wonder Years Preschool Townsend in Townsend, Massachusetts!
There the students had a whole week dedicated to space where they did a wide range of activities including having their own pretend space station they did dramatic play at!
Learning About Outer Space
All of the preschool students had a fantastic time in their space station! They were able to look out the, "Window," at all the planets and study their station's console to learn about planets, the Moon, and develop their counting skills. Everyone had a grand time pretending to put on spacesuits (along with helmets made out of boxes) and then going on, "Spacewalks."
When the students were not engaging in dramatic play aboard their space station they also liked digging in the space-themed sensory bin. It was full of black beans (like the blackness of space) plus toy stars, planets, and other fun objects to dig around with. When they wanted to kick-back and relax there were also many books all about space that the children had fun reading together. It was an awesome week between dramatic play and other fun activities!
