Stone Soup Thanksgiving activity
I have done this in the past leading up to the Thanksgiving break to incorporate sharing. I read a few Thanksgiving books prior and then I have students bring the items for the soup except the meat I usually cook ahead of time at home in a crockpot. Then I gather the items the students brought and add them to the meat and allow it to cook until almost the end of the day and then we have the story and share the soup in a styrofoam cup makes for easy clean-up. I wash the stone and drop it in on top so they can see me put it in and I ask do you want the stone in your cup? I give the students the stone soup items to color cut and make a stone soup book or pouch. The items from the book and the color cut sheet are slightly different and there are some different versions of the book that you can choose from to use as well.
