What can be more fun in the fall than learning about apples and doing an apple craft
I love fall. I want my students to see and feel fall the way I do. We have been talking about the life cycle of apple trees and different kinds of apples. I wanted to take my class on a field trip to an apple orchard and give them that real life experience, but with COVID we are not able to do that. So I did the next best thing. We did a virtual field trip to an apple orchard. It was led by a group of kindergarten teachers. They made it really fun. We learned about honey bees and how important they are. We learned how they make apple cider, apple sauce and apple juice. We learned how they package the apples in the bags that we buy in the stores. After the virtual field trip, we had apple cider and made this cool craft. Most of my kids have never had apple cider, so it was definitely an experience. The craft is popsicle sticks, foam board, brown paper, magnets and hot glue. I googled apple orchard field trips and found this on a different virtual field trip. It's 4 popsicle sticks, (3 regular and 1 small) put the 3 regular ones side by side and blue the small one diagonally on the back to hold them in place. Make a circle on the red foam board then cut it in half for the apple part. Cut it to look like it has been bitten. Cut a leaf from the green foam board and a stem from the brown paper. Use a black sharpie to draw the seed and stick a magnet on the back so they can put it on their fridge at home.
