Preschool winter book crafts

I care for a 3 and 4 year old who’s health require no in person school this year. We do a book each day with learning activities related to it and often a craft to finish up. I normally use supplies I have laying around the house. My other criteria is that they can feel successful at completing it with little or no assistance from me. For the Elmer the Elephant sun catcher I had card stock, tissue paper squares and contact paper. I precut the elephant (traced from a stencil) and placed it face down on the peeled contact paper. The girls, referring to my sample, did a great job of placing the tissue paper squares on to cover the contact paper. I laid another piece of contact paper over the back to seal it. For the second craft while looking through supplies I was surprised to find I had foam shapes that matched the story’s characters. The girls made their mini-picture while retelling the story.
