Activities for Learning About the Weather
At TVCCA Little Learners Early Education Program, they did a variety of fun activities so that they could learn all about the weather!
Mixing compounds to make mud
The children learned how when compounds are mixed it can result in fun results! It was discussed how rain can make dirt turn into mud. The kids then poured water into a tub full of dirt and mixed it up to make mud!
Reading about the weather
The students loved reading fun books that talked about different kinds of weather, such as rain!
Types of weather in seasons
The kiddos used symbols for types of weather and assigned them where they belonged in a season--e.g. a sun would be common in Summer as it is often hot and sunny and a snowflake would belong in Winter.
Clouds and raindrops
The kids decorated a paper plate with cotton to make it look like a cloud and took some paper, cut it into the shape of a raindrop, and added glitter to make colorful raindrops!
Wind and clouds
Some of the students put a light piece of paper cut into the shape of a cloud in front of the fan. They would then let go and watch as the, "Wind," blew their cloud away--just like real clouds and wind! It was a great day for weather-related activities!
