Collecting and using fall leaves
We read books about fall leaves. We read how to rake leaves and then play with the leaves. We spent fun times raking leaves and looking at the leaves. We discussed colors the different leaves had. We sorted leaves by their colors. Once we had the colors sorted we added them back to the pike in the yard. We ran and jumped in the leaves which is a great fun time for a one year old! I allowed him time to collect a few leaves to use in the classroom to make a picture. I then drew on construction paper a large tree trunk with branches and no leaves. My student was allowed to use glue on the leaves to place on the tree. I also stressed that many leaves were on the ground so he placed leaves around the tree. So as a summary we were…Learning to use a rake and collecting leaves. We then sorted colors and jumped in the pile and chose some leaves to glue on a drawn tree to make our own fall tree.
