Dental health craft: mouth model
In this fun hands-on activity, children will create a model of a mouth to learn about different types of teeth.
Materials:
Cardboard (to cut into a mouth shape)
Pink paint (for the gums)
Red paper (for the tongue)
Mini marshmallows (to represent teeth)
Glue
Small mirrors (for kids to observe their own teeth)
Steps:
Cut and paint: Each child cuts a mouth shape out of cardboard and paints it pink to represent the gums.
Add a tongue: They cut a small piece of red paper and glue it in the middle of the mouth.
Observe and count: Using small mirrors, children look at their own teeth and count how many incisors, canines, and molars they have.
Shape and stick teeth: If the marshmallows have been left to dry for a few days, they are easy to shape into incisors (flat, canines (pointed, and molars (large and bumpy).
Attach the teeth: The teacher places glue dots on the gums, and the children carefully stick their marshmallow teeth in the correct spots.
