Handprint Painting Activity for Toddlers
At St. James Preschool they did a great painting activity for little ones who might struggle to hold a paintbrush. They did a handprint painting activity that allowed the kids to enjoy feeling the texture of paint and spreading/smearing it around a big canvas!
Materials needed for the handprint painting
To do this handprint painting activity you will need:
*A large canvas
*Paint (acrylic or tempera works well)
*Hands
*Old newspapers (to help prevent too much of a mess)
How to do the handprint painting
To do the handprint painting activity with your toddler follow these steps:
1. Lay down the old newspapers around the area your toddler will be painting.
2. Put the canvas on the old newspapers.
3. Have the toddler put their hands in some paint and then put it on the canvas.
4. Encourage the toddler to spread and smear the paint with their hands.
5. Once the toddler is done have them wash-up, then wait for the paint to dry.
6. Display their amazing creation!
