Learning About and Practicing Milking Cows!
At Edina Daycare, they've been learning all about farm animals! The focus lately has been learning about cows. As a part of this, the kids got to enjoy a station with a cow-milking simulator set-up. The kiddos had so much fun milking the pretend cow and learning fun facts about cows as a part of this unit.
Cow facts
Some facts about cows you can share with your students include but are not limited to:
*Cow stomachs have four different chambers for digesting food--they do not have four stomachs as some rumors state.
*There are over 1 billion cows on the entire planet of Earth.
*Cows are herbivores and only eat vegetation.
*Cows are red/green color blind.
*A cow chews cud (regurgitated, partially digested food) for up to 8 hours each day.
*Dairy cows provide 90% of the world's milk supply.
