Practicing Spelling and Writing With Shaving Cream
They did a fun activity that combined sensory aspects and learning how to spell at Rogue Valley Montessori! The kiddos loved squeezing and squishing the shaving cream in their hands before they then practiced writing-out words and spelling them correctly.
Practicing the spelling
The kids used their fingers to draw letters and spell words the teacher provided them. It was kind of like doing a spelling bee but with writing the words instead of spelling them out loud. It was a clever way to mix a sensory program with learning to spell. You can do this activity easily too by simply having a table you don't mind making messy and squirting shaving cream upon it for kids to play with and then practice their spelling upon!
