Making Peace Signs for Martin Luther King Jr. Day
At Southern Ocean Preschool, they learned about Martin Luther King Jr. and his dedication to nonviolence when he protested for equal rights in the past. In honor of how his holiday was this past Monday, the children painted peace signs with the assistance of painter's tape and paper plates!
Materials needed for the peace sign craft
To do your own peace sign you will need the following:
*Paper plate
*Painter's Tape
*Paintbrush
*Paint (tempera or acrylic works well)
How to make your peace sign
To create your peace sign follow these steps:
1. Take your paper plate and painter's tape.
2. Place a line of painter's tape across the plate.
3. Place a V-shaped piece/pieces of tape near the top of the plate over the long line that cuts the plate in half.
4. Paint your plate all over--you can paint on the tape too!
5. Wait for the paint to dry.
6. Remove the painter's tape from your plate, the white space will create the image of a peace sign with the paint!
