There is a bird on your head!

We made birds nest hats to accompany the book, There is a Bird on Your Head by Mo Willems. Start with paper plates that students can color to decorate the outside like a nest. Then cut or tear paper strips out of brown bags for the inside nest material. Print bird template either to color or on colored paper and have students cut them for the inside of the nest. Use either pom poms or cotton balls for the 3 eggs in the nest. Before you start, make two holes in the bottom of the plate on opposite sides and thread yarn or string to serve as the ties for the hat. Then spread Elmer's glue around the inside of the plate to glue down all of the nest materials. Enjoy!
