At PALS Play & Learn School in Hillsborough, New Jersey they designed this immensely fun painted umbrella craft activity you can do with your own kids too!
Once it's done you have a beautifully painted umbrella that looks great on its mounted paper with little raindrops coming down!
Materials Needed for the Painted Umbrella Craft Activity
You need the following materials to do the painted umbrella craft activity:
- Colorful construction paper for the umbrella (any color you like)
- Colorful construction paper for mounting (any color you like)
- Paper to cut a semi-circle tracing guide out of
- A piece of paper to trace your umbrella shape--a semi-circle piece works well
- Crayons, markers, and/or paint for decorating your craft
- Scissors
- GlueMarbles (optional)
- a Container for rolling the marbles (optional)
How to do the Painted Umbrella Craft Activity
To this painted umbrella craft activity follow these steps:
Cut the umbrella semi-circle tracing guide out of some construction paper.
Take your piece of construction paper and decorate it with crayons, markers, and paint. You can use marbles covered in paint and use them to color the paper as well by putting it in the container and rolling them around over the paper.
Once everything has dried (if you used paint) utilize your tracing tool to help you trace a semi-circle which will become your umbrella.
Cut your semi-circle out from the construction paper.
Accordion fold your semi-circle in and then unfold it out so that it has ridges that look like an umbrella.
Glue the edges of your umbrella to your mounting paper so that it looks a bit three-dimensional.
Use blue crayons/markers/paint to design little raindrops around your umbrella and illustrate a handle for it too.
Your painted umbrella craft activity is all done!
