A story for 5-6 year old children who learn chinese (perfect for 四五快读）
小女孩儿有一只黑猫。
黑猫伤了它的腿。
黑猫的腿很痛！
走路很痛。
Xiǎonǚ hái'ér yǒuyī zhǐ hēi māo.
Hēi māo shāngle tā de tuǐ.
Hēi māo de tuǐ hěn tòng!
Zǒulù hěn tòng.
A little girl has a black cat.
The black cat hurt its foot
Its foot hurst very much!
Walking is painful!
小女孩买了几个气球。
Xiǎo nǚhái mǎile jǐ gè qìqiú.
The little girl bought some balloons.
她把一堆气球绑在黑猫的腿上。
Tā bǎ yī duī qìqiú bǎng zài hēi māo de tuǐ shàng.
She tied a bunch of balloons to the black cat's leg.
黑猫一边走一边飞了！
Hēi māo yībiān zǒu yībiān fēile!
The black cat walks and flies!
And in the end you can ask questions:
How many balloons? What colours?
Does the girl have pets? What pets? What colour?
Do you have pets? What colour are your pets?
How did the girl get the balloons?
Why did she get those balloons?
Is she a kind and smart girl?
These stories are great for the chinese textbook siwukuaidu (as there are not many pictures there, which is a bit of a problem: children live pictures) but thus nice story can be used with other courses.
