Cutting Out and Sorting Construction Paper Shapes

At Sky is the Limit Learning Center, they did a fun cutting and sorting activity! The children were given different colored pieces of construction paper and directed to cut each color into different shapes. Then, once they were done cutting these shapes they laid all their newly-cut papers down and sorted them as per the teacher's instruction (e.g. from least points like a circle with none to most points like a star). It was a fun way to learn about shapes and follow directions to make the correct shape out of the stated color of construction paper!

Colorful shapes
The children had a lovely time cutting the shapes out and then they were able to save the shapes for future use and sorting too. The students were excited to have their very own shapes they made and could utilize for multiple activities. For example, these could be used for other crafts where you glue the shapes!
