Spring Time! Painting with flowers
My toddler class this week learned about Spring! Each day during circle time, we read different books that related to Spring. To go along with our theme, I created various Art crafts for them to work on during the week. On Friday, the last day of the theme, we read Baby Loves Spring by Karen Katz . My students love reading books that have flips in them. When we read them, we knock the flip three times before revealing what is behind it. I have found this helps them with the number counting recognition.
When it came time to do our artwork, we all sat at the table, and I explained to them that during Springtime, we see flowers start to bloom. I then told them that I got flowers for them to touch & smell. With the help of my TA, we passed around pink flowers for the students to smell.
After we had finished smelling the flowers, we placed muffins pans with paint, and we passed them around for our little ones to paint with. Each student dipped their flowers in the paint and proceeded to paint the paper at the table.
