Learning About Space and Making a Rocket
At The Well preschool, they learned all about outer-space and then made their own rocket!
Learning about Space
The children were read the book, "Moon's First Friends," and how in 1969, American astronaut Neil Armstrong became the first human to step on the moon. They also were taught how on some planets such as Saturn there is no solid surface to walk on! After all of this learning about space, the kids made their own rocket as well!
Making a DIY Rocket
To get kids excited about space and rockets a number of cardboard boxes were gathered. They were taped together and an entrance was cut-out so kids could crawl inside and pretend to be astronauts! The Well also glued buttons and other gadgets inside for kids to play with and all the children helped paint and attach tin foil to the outside of the rocket to complete its impressive look! Everyone had so much fun learning about space and then pretending to have a rocket!
