Learning to Make Change and Count Money
At I CAN Child Care & Learning Center, they spent some time working at learning to make change and count money. They did this by using play-money modeled to look like real cash!
The importance of understanding money
Technology such as debit and credit cards have resulted in people using physical money a lot less, but it still occasionally is needed. By knowing how to count money and make change, young children can gain a better understanding of what kind of value money has and why certain kinds of tender are worth more than others.
Learning all about funds
The kids learned how there are pennies, nickels, dime, and quarters when it comes to the most commonly used coins and for paper money, there are 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, and 100 dollar bills that usually circulated--although 2 dollar bills seem to not often be seen! Everyone had a great time pretending to count and make change with the money.
