Learning About and Drawing the Horizon

At Snell's Pre-K they learned about and drew the horizon. They also made a multi-media version of the craft which they loved doing!

All about the horizon
What is the horizon? Well, it is the apparent line that separates earth from sky, the line that divides all viewing directions based on whether it intersects the Earth's surface or not. Because the Earth is round you can see it no matter where you are on Earth, there is always a spot where the horizon begins.
The kiddos had fun creating an image of this horizon, illustrating grass and then a blue sky where the Earth met the atmosphere. The kids were also taught how the true horizon is actually a theoretical line, which can only be observed when it lies on the sea surface. It does not so much, "Exist," as our mind perceives it!
