Learning About Ocean Layers and Drawing Ocean Creatures

At Lovely Lane Preschool/BASE, they learned all about the ocean and its layers. Then, they drew ocean creatures too for fun!

Different layers in the ocean

The ocean actually has many layers. At the top is Sunlight, then Twilight, Midnight, Abyss, and Trench is at the very bottom. These layers of the ocean can have very different animals. The ocean's depth can vary too, so not every area will have an Abyss or Trench. When one goes to a Trench in the ocean they actually could face so much pressure they would need special equipment to survive it! After learning about all these layers the children were excited to draw the kind of creatures you find in assorted layers. Whether it was dolphins that are seen by the surface in the Sunlight layer or snailfishes found in the Trench, there are lots of ocean creatures!
