Learning Patience by Watching Caterpillars Turn into Butterflies!
At First Presbyterian Church Day School, the class loved watching caterpillars grow and change!
From caterpillars to butterflies
They received 6 tiny Painted Lady caterpillars in the mail two weeks ago. They watched them eat, grow, and then migrate to the top of their cup and form chrysalises (or pupae). After waiting a whole week, they began emerging as beautiful butterflies! When they had all emerged they were released to the outdoors and sent on their way to live happy lives fluttering free in the sunshine.
Using patience
The children had to learn to be patient as you can't rush caterpillars turning into butterflies. You have to gently care for them and wait as they grow, make a chrysalis, then turn into beautiful butterflies. The class kitten was excited to watch them change too!
