Loose parts Self Portrait

Loose parts Self Portrait

We were talking about our bodies and what we look like. the children were asked to pick out a color that looked like their skin. They drew a circle and then used loose parts and various art materials to create their portrait. We kept a mirror near the art center so they could look at themselves as often as needed. Some were very precise and kept going back to make sure they were being accurate others were very creative in their self-portrait and used whatever they felt like without even looking once.

The project was entirely independent with the exception of some asking for help when their heavier items kept falling off so we assisted with tacky glue.
