Practical Life Skills Centers Idea
At Encinitas Country Day Preschool, they did a variety of fun centers focused on learning practical life skills. The children had fun working on practicing doing real-life actions. Whether polishing some decor--as seen above--or doing other tasks, it provided some stellar ideas for centers!
Cutting fruit
Using real knives would be dangerous, but these toy fruits were designed to be, "Cut," by toy knives. When we are older and making our own meals we will often need to use knives. Whether we are cutting bread, meat, vegetables, or fruit, knowing how to properly use a knife is a key life skill.
Buttoning a shirt
Knowing how to button-up our clothing is important as we grow older and sometimes shirts, dresses, or other clothing has buttons. This center had a shirt that children could practice buttoning and unbuttoning.
