I will get pots filled with soil rocks flour. Students should choose.
Plants need: water, light, soil (nutrients, air and space to stay alive. But why? If a plant is not watered enough, its stem will be fragile and have very dry leaves. It will eventually die.
Draw a picture of a plant on the board. Be sure to include roots, a stem, a flower, and leaves in your drawing.
Ask your students to tell you what you've just drawn..
Allow your students to make suggestions for the labels.
Introduce Plants and Seeds
Show them the two houseplants and ask them to share what they know about plants. How are these plants the same?.
Show them the two kinds of seeds and ask the children what they know about seeds..
Hand each child a pea pod..
Explain that these young peas are not ready to be planted.
