Found Materials Mobile Craft

At The Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art they had guests to the museum make their own mobiles out of found materials! These mobiles were inspired by flight and designed to look like they could take-off flying whenever some wind hit them!

A variety of materials

Many kinds of found materials were used to make the mobiles. Things such as such as coffee filters, paper straws, cardboard, and painted papers were all utilized. By using string and other items the mobiles could be suspended in the air in a number of ways.

No wrong way to make a mobile

This activity encouraged a great deal of creativity as there was no wrong way to make a mobile. As long as it could be hung-up and looked impressive swaying in the breeze it was a good mobile. As the pictures show, everyone was so creative!
