Making Snowman Slime

At Concord Road Church of Christ Preschool, they made snowman slime! Kids love making and playing with slime, so why not add a holiday theme for the Winter season and do snowman slime to celebrate the cold months full of holidays such as Hanukkah and Christmas?

Learning about solids and liquids with slime
The kids had a ball mixing and creating their own slime. They learned about solids and liquids. It was exciting to see the little ones play with the slime.

Not a solid or a liquid?
The kids also learned about non-Newtonian fluids. That is a fluid that does not follow Newton's law of viscosity, i.e., constant viscosity independent of stress. In non-Newtonian fluids, viscosity can change when under force to either more liquid or more solid. Ketchup, for example, becomes runnier when shaken and is thus a non-Newtonian fluid. Slime is a bit of a non-Newtonian fluid and was so fun to play with!
