At St. Mary's Little Angels Preschool, they engaged in dramatic play with toy baby dolls. It was great fun and a lot of data and research shows that engaging in dramatic play with baby dolls can be extremely advantageous for young children.

According to an article found on Childventures, "Playing with dolls solidifies social skills that are gained in a child’s early developmental years. When children play house, they learn to communicate with one another kindly and cooperate. By taking care of a doll, they learn how to take care of one another." In addition, Early Years Resources has written that doll play provides benefits in teaching children about diversity. This is achieved as they play with a multicultural/multi-ability variety of dolls and learn how regardless of our differences we all are one people here on our planet Earth. Dramatic play with dolls is always a fantastic idea to do with little ones in your classroom!
